Community Resources

There are many community agencies available to support victims and their families. Sudbury and Area Victim Services maintains partnerships with agencies throughout the community and is available to provide individuals with appropriate referrals for long-term supports.

Assisting francophone women against all forms of violence, offering counselling and support.

Family Court Support Program - YWCA Genevra House 705-674-2210 x233

Assists survivors of domestic violence through the court process. 

Sudbury Counselling Centre 705-524-9629

Sudbury Women's Centre 705-673-1916

Groups available for women in need of support. They provide several free programs including Sisters Offering Support, Self Compassion Workshops and many more.

Victim Witness Assistance Program (VWAP) 705-564-7694

Provides information and assistance to support participation in the criminal court process. Services begin once police have laid charges and continue until the court case is over. VWAP provides case-specific information (court dates, bail conditions), court preparation, needs assessment, and referrals to community agencies.

Violence Intervention and Prevention Program (VIPP) - Health Sciences North 705-675-4743

Members of the VIPP team are specially-trained Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses, Social Workers and social service providers who assist with the needs of victims of violence. They respond to male and female victims of domestic violence, acute sexual assault, and pediatric physical and sexual abuse/assault at Health Sciences North.

Voices For Women Sexual Assault Centre 705-671-5495

Support for survivors of historical sexual assault through group and individual counselling.

YWCA Genevra House 705-674-2210

An emergency shelter for women escaping abuse from their intimate partners (including same sex partners), as well as women 50 years and over who are escaping abuse from their live-in caregiver. Transitional and housing support, family court support, and child and youth programs are also offered.
